NEW ALBUM: SWEET FAST RIVER

Songs about love and sex, with great tunes

Suntrap’s 3rd Album, Sweet Fast River, will be released at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, South Bank Centre, on 1st February 2006, at 12.30pm.

Spell-binding original songwriting and intricate vocal and instrumental harmonies form the basis of Suntrap’s best album yet.  The album features 12 new recordings of the latest additions to Suntrap's repertoire.  You will be blown to the back of your seats by the fulsome and liquid harmonies and gorgeous musical moments.  Suntrap say "like the best pop music, folk is all about love and sex, but with better tunes".

Suntrap are a sought-after band following the success of their first two albums, Long Winter Coat and Red Red Shoes.  Sara Byers, Paul Hoad, Mary Wilson and Nicola Hillary provide vocal harmonies and a rich mix of accordion, two violins, guitars, viola, harmonica, and piano.  Suntrap have thrilled audiences at UK festivals including Bridgnorth, Cambridge and Warwick, and internationally in Europe, playing alongside Donovan, Oysterband, Eliza Carthy, and Kate Rusby.  Suntrap regularly gig at the Royal Festival Hall and appear live on radio shows such as Radio 4’s Loose Ends.

The album shows off Byers’ and Hoad's brilliant song writing, citing influences such as the Mamas and the Papas, Scissor Sisters, the Corrs and Emmylou Harris.  The interweaving voices of Suntrap’s dual violins appear on an album for the first time, following Nicola joining the band in 2002.

English songs such as All Things are Quite Silent and A Blacksmith Courted Me are also given the Suntrap treatment with all the range and power that four voices and four instrumentalists can bring.  Beautiful solo and multi-voiced a cappela songs complete the mix, including a topical version of Kate Bush's Man with the Child in his Eyes.

Sweet Fast River can be ordered from www.suntrap.org at £13 (inc. p&p) or by emailing suntrapmusic@hotmail.com .
